Handler

Karen VanBrummelen and Stone
My dog fasination started in 1978 when my husband, Richie, and I purchased our first Doberman and then attended a local match show.
Immediately getting hooked, I was like a sponge soaking up as much information and evaluating handler styles and methods as quickly as was possible. I handled and finished many breeds of dogs over the years including Mini-Doxies, Tibetan Terriers, Pharoah Hounds, Pointers, Chessies, Labs, Boxers and Dobes while also working as a corporate accountant.
In June of 2000, David and Donna Vaughn gave me the golden opportunity to show their young fawn male "Stone". He finished very nicely in only a handful of weekends and I had found a new love...Great Danes. It was due to the Vaughn's confidence in me that I was able to obtain exposure in the Great Dane ring and was quickly hired by several other Dane owners to show their dogs...and have done so very successfully.
Richie and I live in the quiet town of Muncy which is in the north central portion of Pennsylvania. We have no kennel runs, thus I limit the number of client dogs staying with us. Our dogs live in our home as a part of our family. They are let out on the buddy system in a one half acre stockade fenced area that is 1/3 pea gravel and 2/3 grass...or a mowable substance that appears to be grass :). I no longer work outside the home so my days are spent tending and training my dogs and several exotic parrots. My husband is also greatly involved in our sport. He is an excellent gourmet cook, he keeps us well fed and enjoys driving the motor home (when not out golfing). Richie is and has been the show chairman of the Bald Eagle Kennel Club, Williamsport, PA for the past eight years...also working closely with out sister clubs, Lackawanna and Back Mountain.
Showing is my passion and I do it professionally, with great pride and cherish the opportunity to bring out the absolute best in each and every dog shown.
